Rep. Courtney offers introductory remarks on health care reform in House Education Labor Committee

A member of the House Education and Labor Committee, Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-02) offered introductory remarks on July 15 as the Committee began marking-up HR 3200, Americas Health Choices Act, which is the landmark legislation set to reform our nations health insurance system. The House Education and Labor Committee is one of three committees, including the House Ways and Means Committee and House Energy and Commerce Committee that drafted the House bill now being considered. In 2006, Courtney promised not to accept taxpayer subsidized health insurance, a privilege offered to all Members of Congress, until all Americans have access to affordable and quality coverage.
